This page outlines how The British Sitcom Guide (BSG) uses and stores personally identifiable information.
Last revised: 30th December 2005
We receive personally identifiable information about you when you submit an online form to us, enter a competition, join one of our mailing lists or email us. This information consists of your name, your email address, your location (country) and anything else you choose to disclose.
If you choose to enter a competition or fill out one of our surveys your answers will also be stored with your details. The forms in our writers area capture additional details too.
Storage of data
We only store personal information whilst it is still required. All personal information is stored offline in a secure file except in the following cases...
Information Usage and Disclosure
We only use your personal information to help us deal with your submission or question or manage our mailing lists. We will never share, sell or rent your personal information without your advance permission (unless ordered to by a court of law). This agreement includes your email address - we will never disclose this to any third parties without your consent.
One exception to this is our competition entry data. In some competitions we may pass entry details on to the PR firm which is running the competition on our behalf. The PR company uses this data to randomly choose winners, send out prizes and verify we haven't been making up entries. Before agreeing to work with a PR company we vet them to ensure they conform to the UK Data Protection Act thus you can be assured your details are safe in their hands too.
If you submit content or a review to be included on our website we will credit you online - the credit we generate will consist of just your name and maybe the country you live in. If you'd prefer not to be credited or wish to use a nickname you will need to specify this when submitting content.
Removing Your Details
If you wish to ensure we have deleted all information we hold against you please contact us and we will confirm compliance with your request.
It is possible to permanently and quickly remove yourself from our mailing list automatically by either clicking the link at the bottom of any of our emails or by entering your email in the box below.
For more information on our data usage or to clarify something above you are more than welcome to contact us .
