Series one of this innovative sitcom is being re-released with a new cover (as the previous release has now faded into obscurity). For those that don't know Peep Show is about wannabe popstar Jeremy (Robert Webb), a lazy man with big ideas, mostly about himself. Bromwell High is a highly irreverent animated comedy Channel 4 broadcast last year which follows the exploits of three exceptionally naughty girls.

Released: May 15th

One of the most successful TV series ever made, running from 1969 to 1973, On the Buses is a bit of a comedy classic even though it has since been panned by critics. If you're a fan here is a chance to own all 13 episodes from series four.

Note: is also being released on this day.

Released: May 15th

The Royle Family has had a bit of a sketchy DVD release history to say the least. To correct this the BBC are setting the record straight with this boxset. Each of the three series gets its own disc and the 1999 and 2000 Christmas Specials are included too. We think it is a bit cheeky they've called it 'The Complete Series' though, after all they're working on a new Christmas special right now!

If you'd prefer to buy the series individually (perhaps because you bought the Series 3 set in November) both Series 1 and 2 are also being released in their own single disc sets on May 15th.

Released: May 22nd

We're somewhat surprised that this classic sitcom hasn't been released on DVD in full before now. Anyway the BBC have finally decided to release Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais' follow up to The Likely Lads which actually manages to surpass the original.

In this 13 part series Terry Collier (James Bolam) returns from his stint in the army to find his north-east home-town and its inhabitants have changed beyond recognition. Out of contact during the intervening years, his best friend Bob Ferris (Rodney Bewes) has settled into a respectable white-collar job and is engaged to his boss's daughter, Thelma. With distaste, Thelma remembers Terry from the past and she is aghast that he has returned to exert what can only be his customarily poor influence over her easily led fiancé.

Released: May 22nd

The 8th series of the popular sitcom on DVD. Long ago Lionel, a dashing young British Army officer met Jean, a lovely student nurse and fell deeply in love. When Lionel was shipped off to fight in the Korean war the two lost touch. Now they meet again and slowly begin to rekindle their romance. The episodes in this season are 1. A Very Personal Problem 2. Animal Magnetism 3. The Bathroom 4. Surprising News 5. Going Online.

Released: May 22nd

Starring Nicholas Lyndhurst, Goodnight Sweetheart became an instant hit with TV viewers and by the time this fourth series hit TV screens the comedy had properly established itself. This 2 disc boxset contains all 11 episodes from the season and audio commentaries from the creators, writers and producer.

Released: May 22nd

Based on three of Peter Tinniswood’s books (A Touch Of Daniel, I Didn’t Know You Cared and Except You’re A Bird) I Didn't Know You Cared depicts the hilariously awful Brandons, an extended Northern clan struggling with the miseries and stresses of family life, with fantastic humour. The second series is available on DVD from May.

Released: May 22nd & June 5th

Still Game is one of those series which has been un-fairly mucked about by BBC Worldwide. The good news is that 2entertain are picking up the sitcom and releasing all four series over the next couple of months (series five hits our screens soon). It does mean that some of the series that are already out there are going to be re-released under a different cover however if you haven't yet started your collection this is good news because the existing releases are all over the place to be honest.

Even this release is a little strange though Series 1 and come out on May 22nd but and Series 3 do not appear until June 5th. Odd!

Joking Apart - Series 1

Joking Apart - Series 1

This May, new DVD label Replay will be giving us the long-overdue release of the first series of Joking Apart, the award-winning sitcom written by Steven Moffat. It stars Robert Bathurst as a comedy writer whose life rapidly descends into riotous farce when his wife leaves him.

Released: June 5th

Yet another classic that the BBC are only just getting around to making available on DVD! Anyway, back again for another healthy portion, limp-wristed Mr. Wilberforce Clayborne Humphries and the blue-rinsed battle-axe Mrs 'Betty' Slocombe lead the outrageous department store staff through a fifth series of popular episodes!

Released: June 5th

Simon Nye's 'marmite sitcom' (we call it that as it is one of those love it or loath it comedies) is being released in full this summer for the first time (series one was released by itself a few years back). Wild West stars Dawn French and Catherine Tate as a lesbian couple living in Cornwall. A series of bizarre events afflict the small town of St. Geep, including washed-up hordes of Tupperware, swinging parties and body-piercing (without instructions). This two disc set will contain all 12 episodes of weirdness.

Released: June 5th

The 17 episodes of the car salesman sitcom in one DVD set. Played by Charlie Higson and developed from The Fast Show character, Swiss Toni will no doubt entertain, enthral, evoke laughter and most of all make you feel evolved. With his blonde quiff standing to attention and his grey shot-silk suit sparkling under the showroom lights, Swiss Toni is the emperor of his car emporium. However, Toni is being taught to drive by his long-suffering wife Ruth and is consistently out-performed by his alcoholic employee, Geoff. Swiss Toni is cheesy, out-of-date and chauvinistic - which is why everyone loves him.

June appears to be a Fast Show spin-off season as Grass is another DVD release to feature a character from the hit sketch show. Written by Andrew Collins and Simon Day, Grass marks a very welcome return for The Fast Show's overzealous know-it-all, Billy Bleach. This subtle but excellent series is about how Billy is forced to grass on villain Harry Taylor after witnessing a gangland murder and is subsequently given a new identity. How will he cope in the village of Little Mockwell in deepest rural Norfolk and will he get on with the locals?

Released: June 19th

The adventures of Terry and June continue with this series 3 release. The couple have just moved to Purley, south-east London... Aunt Lucy and the mynah bird had disappeared, as had the occasionally visiting daughters. Terry and June now mixed with a friendly next door neighbour, Beattie; Terry's chatty work colleague, Malcolm; and their gruff boss Sir Dennis Hodge. Otherwise, things were much as before, with Terry's pigheaded childishness causing no end of problems, usually thwarting June's attempts at leading a cosy life.

Released: June 19th

The third series of Jimmy Perry and David Croft's household sitcom is out this summer.

Spaced - Definitive Collector's Edition
Released: July 3rd

We're a bit confused what this release is to be honest because the 3 disc collectors edition (which contained an amazing number of extras) was released last year. We're fairly sure it is that boxset re-released under another name as the collectors edition sold out very quickly.

Released: July 3rd

This Black Books box set appears to be another re-release as the three series of the comedy have already been bought out in a box set before. If you don't yet own Graham Linehan's cult comedy it will be very much worth picking this up though.

Released: July 3rd

Fans of this cult sitcom have been waiting years for the show to come out on DVD - thankfully the wait is nearly over as Channel 4 are finally bringing out the series this summer. Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is a brilliant spoof on 1980s horror movies for those that don't know, created by Matthew Holness and Richard Ayoade (Moz from the IT Crowd). Lets hope the DVD is packed with extras as this show deserves it.

Released: July 24th

The Drop the Dead Donkey releases continue. The topical multi-award sitcom, set in the offices of 'Globelink News', was on real top form by this series. The two disc boxset contains all the episodes from the season as well as some extras.

The IT Crowd - Series 1
Released: October 9th

Fans of The IT Crowd will be pleased to hear they don't have to wait as long as Darkplace fans for their series to be released, then again there is still a while to go yet. Channel 4 will be releasing the series on DVD in October (which'll more than likely link in with the broadcast of the second series).

Later Releases

Other releases due out later in the year include: Phoenix Nights: Series 1 & 2 (re-release), The Book Group - Series 1 and the rest of the Drop the Dead Donkey and Goodnight Sweetheart series. As time progresses more releases will of course be announced so watch this space.
